After the War

War ended and Joe was occupied in care and preservation of all RADAR and Radio equipment.  His demobilisation was deferred because of the work he was doing and he was attached to the 177 Infantry Brigade Workshop Company at Melines.  Finally he was demobbed on 16th March 1946 and put on Z reserve.

Subsequently he spent two weeks at REME Woolwich in 1951 to be shown the latest American, Canadian and British Radar developments. During this time he had to take several exams in which he achieved the top score.  He was offered a permanent job in the Army as a Major.

That was not to be however.  After ten years of marriage Joe and Ivy discovered that they were to be parents at last and opted for a peaceful civilian life.

Joe's Army career was over.
