The IMM - International Mini Meet (better known as the
International Muddy Meet) was held in Kinross in Scotland. The weather
forecasters were right about this one, it rained solidly for most of the time,
which resulted in mud, mud and more mud. The whole site was running with
it, and the public areas quickly felt more like quicksand than grass. This
put a total damper on the whole event, for most people.

To be fair I think the organisers were up against it. They seemed to be
plagued by red tape and health and safety people. They weren't allowed to put
straw down, which might have helped, because they reckoned it could catch fire
when it dried out. It took us two and a half hours queueing up to get into the
event (some people took up to four hours apparently). Then once we were in we
couldn't get out as there was only the one entrance road, and no general parking
area we could leave the car in. We had to park up on our camping pitches (even
though we'd chickened out and were doing B&B), then had to move the cars at
10.00 when they suddenly announced there were to be no car movements after that.
So we just left and went back to our B&B Friday night (which was in a pub -
seemed a much better option).
The Saturday night presentations went on far too long, and the entertainment
didn't really get the party atmosphere going, most people left early.
I know it cost a lot to organise, but can't really see what we all got for our
£36 - just a sticker and a stick of rock. Last year tee-shirts, mugs and some
food was included in the price, but this year everything was extra.
Full marks to the show and shine people for making the effort on Sunday though,
I really thought they'd have to cancel it.
Baby didn't go to this one, I had the opportunity to go up in Sputnik to help
out with driving that sort of distance in a relatively short time, so she stayed
at home. I must admit I'm glad she did, I don't think she'd have liked
being up to her arches in mud, and I certainly wouldn't have liked the job of
cleaning her inside and out afterwards!
One for the girls - I was told to bring back some pics
of the guys in their kilts but didn't manage to get any good ones.
However it was my birthday while we were up there and Jim gave me a card
with this picture on, which I thought you might enjoy!
