The rain descended on Imola for
the start of the Special Stage Day of the Rally.
We woke Binky up in his bedroom outside our room for the
drive to the Imola Grad Prix Circuit.
The Jobbers were all together for the first time and the
competition commenced with Sputnik having first go at running round in
circles - a timed trial where he had to do the first circle in seven
seconds, the second in six, and the third in seven seconds.
Every Jobber had taken gifts of toys for the
children in the UNITALSI homes in Italy. The model Minis in
the front of first picture were all donated by Team 60's friends and
sponsors.
The main special stage competition consisted of driving
through cones against the clock. A straight followed by an
anti-clockwise circle, another straight followed by an anti clockwise
circle, another straight, turn left, hit a big blue ball to knock over
cones, reverse to run over a cigarette packed with the back driver's side
wheel, then back through the cones again doing clockwise circles this
time.

Even the Alfa police car had a go!
After the Special Stages were
over we were all allowed out on the track. It was still very wet,
and Freddie was a bit worried and telling everyone to take it easy - no
seriously!
A Ferrari at Imola - probably
a more normal sight than Minis
It was dark by the time we left the track
to return to the Molino Rosso. Just time to get changed ready for
dinner and an evening of Karaoke!
