| Our first major event of the year was the MiniWorld Dyno Day
on 23rd February. There's some pics in the shows/events section of
the photo album if you want to see more.

Baby achieved a score of 81 Bhp which was a bit
disappointing as she was supposed to have 90. She also had a high
emissions level which means she may have cat problems. However I was
assured by the experts that she did pretty well! |

John Cooper's have been told about her missing 10 Bhp and
she was checked over in April to see where she had hidden it. They
said she was fine and just adjusted her tappits. |

| On 6th/7th March Baby took another trip to John Cooper
Garages to have a new alarm fitted. She also had central locking and
electric windows put in at the same time.

She now has Cooper badges where her window winders used to
be...

In May she got a nice new sticker and brake
light in her
rear windscreen and shiny numberplate surrounds. |

In June Baby was judged 'Best Mini' in the Show'n'Shine at
Run to the Sheep.

Here she is looking very sheepish about it!
Baaaa! |

At the end of June, Baby took part in another
dyno day, this time with the Mini Cooper Register. Thanks to Mel
for arranging it and letting her take part, even though she's not a
'proper' Cooper according to the MCR.
This was even more confusing 'cos they said her emissions
were fine, she got the same score but a very different looking chart |

Her new shelf under her dashboard came from
MITP in August, where she came second in the '97 on modified class. |

After a hectic year travelling to and from loads of Mini
Shows, Baby's wheels got tired and we discovered she needed new front
wheel bearings. Not good at her age, but one of the problems with
Sportspack Minis on 13" wheels. Luckily we got her sorted
quickly thanks Uncle Deano (Mister D) who diagnosed the problem, and to
Uncle Tim (CofV) who performed the surgery. It's a shame they hadn't
started to go wrong a few weeks earlier when I'd taken her for a service
at John Cooper Garages. They said there was no problem after I'd
mentioned to them that I was worried about her wobbly steering. They
just tightened her steering bracket and adjusted her tracking.
She still felt the same so I got a second opinion. When I told them
afterwards, they said they checked the bearings and they were fine
then. She hasn't been back since. |
