Ace Cafe Mods & Minis The famous Ace Cafe in London, better known as a bikers cafe from the sixties, runs Mods & Minis nights on the first Thursday of every month. We've been to most of them so far. I've not taken pics at all of them as it gets dark too early in the winter, but here are some pics, the most recent first. Click on a pic to enlarge: 4th September 2003 Italian Job - The Real Deal - Mini Charity Night at the Ace Cafe For pics of this fantastic event organised by us, click the pic below: 7th August 2003 A month to go until our Italian Job Charity Night at the Ace, and it appeared that word had got around, which resulted in the biggest turnout to date at the Ace. Let's hope we get even more next month!
3rd July 2003 Not many cars this time, but some good pics. We had the second appearance of a blob which Bandits managed to obscure in the pics. It left after about an hour to a round of applause and cheers.
5th June 2003 A good night. Plenty of scooters this time, they must prefer the lighter evenings. John & Zoe's MK1 George made his very first outing to a Mini event and caused quite a stir!
1st May 2003 Not many Minis this time, surprisingly as the evenings are getting lighter now.
4th April 2003 First Ace meet after the formation of Mini Bandits - a lot had changed in the last month! It was actually light when we arrived for the first time for ages, but we were too busy gassing and stuffing our faces to take any pics before it got dark. Then the delicate operation of performing a horn transplant on Binky to stop him eating his airhorns began, thanks to Stu.
A slightly different Ace night tonight, with MCM acting like loonies in aid of Red Nose Day. Glenn volunteered(!?) to wear a wig and a skirt, if we raised £100 in sponsorship. We collected about £80 from others at the Ace, which together with sponsorship from MCM board and money raised at the PPP social the previous night, puts us on about £200 so far. Hopefully we'll get more, so if you're looking at this pics and haven't donated, get your cheque books out!
6th February 2003 Another dry night, considerably warmer than we'd been expecting after the previous few nights. Our luck really can't hold out much longer for Ace nights. A good turnout of MCM members again, with Mel, Liz, Andy and Mark going for the first time. Slight panic on the way there as Mel was following me and got lost and had a new phone so I couldn't contact her. Thankfully she managed to find it.
2nd January 2003 Not many Mini pics this time, the weather had been wet and miserable and most people were still recovering from their New Year celebrations. No mods on scooters turned up and it was mainly MCM/RSP owners. We weren't complaining though. As it happened it didn't really rain, just a slight drizzle, so didn't stop the fun.
5th December 2002 I didn't get to this one unfortunately, but here are some pics (from Mike) of a lovely 1964 Cooper S which had everyone drooling!
7th November 2002 It's amazing how the turnouts are holding despite the fact that it's now well and truly winter and we've had virtually continual rain recently. Unbelievably it was dry for a change, we've not yet had one wet night at Ace. Thes pics are courtesy of Mike, (LordCroker). 1st August 2002 Again a good turnout, with a few new friends from the net in attendance. The RSP we saw last time was there again, but will probably not be again. It was sold during the course of the evening, next time the guy will be there in a BRG 'N' reg Cooper. 4th July 2002 This was the first 'Mods & Minis' night on 4th July 2002 About 30 Minis turned up in all, and it was good fun seeing all the bikers, scooter boys and Mini owners all getting along so well and admiring each other's pride and joy.
