Before I saw Baby I thought I'd probably get a Cooper 'S', as I wanted
my new Mini to be really special. I'd looked at the Mini 40 when it came
out but didn't like the metal dash. I waited to see what the last
'special's were going to be like, but none of them had wood interiors, which I
was determined that I wanted. Baby was registered in January 2000 and was
briefly used as a demo car. I saw her in March and fell in love with
her. She'd been given virtually every Rover 'extra' - sunroof, wooden
dash, wooden door cappings and handles, leather seats etc. She was
mine a week later!
As I said I really wanted a Cooper 'S' but I didn't really want
a standard Cooper colour scheme, so I decided that Baby could be converted once
I'd bought her. I made the mistake of insuring her on a 'standard' policy,
and then found out it'd cost a fortune to change it, so I left it until our
first anniversary to get her converted.
Meanwhile
we had lots of fun. Our first outing together was at Easter to the Donington
show, where I bought her lots of goodies, notably her centre console and
eyelashes. Next was L2B where she got her chrome air vent covers.
Mallory Park saw the addition of a John Cooper petrol cap and GB stickers. Mallory also gave her an outing on the race track, even if it was only in the
Cavalcade!
Other purchases in her first year included stainless steel
wipers, side strips, and lots of other goodies, from visits to Southern Mini
Days, MITP and Sandown.
